All Manuscripts Transferred to Edda

Word of the Year 2024
Each year, the Árni Magnússon Institute for Icelandic studies selects the Word of the Year. Ten words are selected as representative of the year in some way, but the word deemed the most notable in 2024 is Hraunkæling (lava cooling).

English Translation of the Rímur Poetry by Ten Kvæðamenn
The Rímur Poetry of Ten Kvæðamenn: Research on Variations is now available as an e-book, featuring audio examples of the poetry. he book recounts the collection and study of rímur performance by ten kvæðamenn between 1964 and 1971.

Application Deadline for International Summer School in Icelandic

The Árni Magnússon Institute for Icelandic Studies, in cooperation with the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Iceland, organizes every year an International Summer Course in Modern Icelandic and Icelandic Culture. The course is to be held in Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland. Classes take place at the University Campus at Suðurgata.
The application deadline is 15 February. Courses begin on 1 July, 2025.
