First call for papers: EUROCALL 2023: CALL for all languages

Submission deadline for EUROCALL 2022: 15 February 2023

The focus of this year’s EUROCALL conference is on inclusiveness of all languages, which is reflected in the main conference theme “CALL for all languages”. We particularly welcome papers that focus on supporting and promoting indigenous, endangered, and less commonly spoken languages, but themes related to other languages and language technologies in CALL are also very welcome.

Uniwersytet Gdański poszukuje kandydata na nowo utworzone stanowisko wykładowcy języka islandzkiego jako języka obcego. Uczelnia oferuje zatrudnienie na pełny etat od 1 września 2022 na trzy lata z możliwością przedłużenia. Od kandydata wymaga się posiadania przynajmniej stopnia magistra filologii islandzkiej lub pokrewnego wykształcenie. Dodatkowymi atutami będą: ukończony kurs pedagogiczny oraz/lub doświadczenie w nauczaniu języka islandzkiego jako języka obcego, a także znajomość języka polskiego.

New book - A World in Fragments

A World in Fragments contains proceedings of an international conference that the Árni Magnússon Institute for Icelandic Studies, Reykjavík, the Centre for Medieval Literature at the Universities of Southern Denmark and York, and the Centre for Medieval Studies at the University of Iceland held in 2016 on the medieval Icelandic encyclopedic manuscript GKS 1812 4to. In this volume, specialists from different academic fields present studies of various aspects of the manuscript from a wide range of angles.

Science for Ukraine

Several educational and scientific institutes around the world have joined the initiative Science for Ukraine. The initiative aims to support Ukrainian scientists and academics by offering assistance and temporary positions or facilities for research. The Árni Magnússon Institute for Icelandic Studies is taking part in the initiative and we have already extended an invitation to two academics seeking refuge.
