The Árni Magnússon Institute for Icelandic Studies administers two scholarships. The application deadline for both is December 1 each year.
The Snorri Sturluson Fellowships are awarded to foreign writers, translators, and scholars, in order for them to travel to Iceland to improve their knowledge of Icelandic language, culture and society, and to conduct their research.
The Icelandic Government Scholarships are awarded to students from abroad who wish to pursue a BA-programme in Icelandic as a Second Language at the University of Iceland.
