Árni Magnússon Institute Certified as CLARIN B-centre

Merki CLARIN

The Árni Magnússon Institute for Icelandic Studies has now been certified as a CLARIN B-centre in Iceland. Certification as a Service Providing Centre (B-centre) requires meeting a set of strict criteria regarding administration and technical infrastructure. Service Providing Centres form the backbone of CLARIN, offering the scientific community access to resources and services as well as sharing knowledge.

The objective of CLARIN is to create and maintain an infrastructure to promote the sharing, use and sustainability of linguistic data as well as tools for research in the humanities and social sciences. For this reason, there is great care taken that CLARIN centres follow strict standards to ensure data security, that data are always made accessible and that this data can be found in a simple manner (cf. FAIR principles* on scientific data management). When Iceland became a member of CLARIN-ERIC, we committed ourselves to establishing a certified Service Providing Centre, and that goal has now been achieved. There are currently 21 CLARIN Service Providing centres in total.
