Guðrún Nordal Named to the Norwegian Academy of Science & Letters

Guðrún Nordal, director of the Árni Magnússon Institute for Icelandic Studies and professor at the University of Iceland, has been named to the Norwegian Academy of Science & Letters. She is one of six international scholars named to the academy this year.
Founded in 1857, the Norwegian Academy of Science & Letters has, for over 160 years, served as the representative body for Norwegian science vis-à-vis foreign academies and other international science organizations. Its activities include organizing conferences, recognizing significant achievements and awarding prizes. Currently the academy is organized into two divisions: the Natural Sciences division and the Humanities & Social Sciences division. A professor of medieval Icelandic literature, Guðrún Nordal was named to the latter division.
